Katz’s with Kohnsey

An old work buddy from London called me out of the blue because he was in NYC for the weekend.  We hooked up yesterday and it was great to just chill out with an old friend.  It was the excuse that I needed to finally make my 1st visit to Katz’s Deli – a classic American diner/deli that is famous for pastrami/corned beef on rye and ‘When Harry Met Sally’.  After that we filled up on sugary sweets around the Lower East Side at Economy Candy and the Doughnut Plant.  We talked about life and love and happiness in a park.  We visited a mate at a mexican restaurant/bar where we drank a beer with lime, chilli and salt, which was weird but refreshing.  Then we topped it off with a visit to another of my favourite LES jaunts, the Motor City Bar.  Over the course of the day we consumed quite a lot of meat, sugar and beer, but my run in the morning makes up for it, right?  It was good to see you, Mike.
